11:57a Ski/Riding buddies
I go to the slopes alone, like a big smelly loser, all the time. Who wants to go? Drop me a note and we can plan something. (My email is right there on my LJ user profile.)
I can ride OK but I'm no mad dog. That means I can have fun with folks of any skill level, but if you are a mad dog you might have to wait for me a little bit.

11:14a garbage collection
For over a decade, Clip & I have been accumulating data. Some useful, some useless, but it's our duty as geeks. But this data has not been well cared for; it sits in various heaps, largely unsorted and overflowing. The state of our file server has been chaos for this whole time, and it finally pushed me over the edge about a week ago. I'd like to blame it all on Clip, since he made the mess. But it's even more my fault for having him handle the whole thing for years without much input from me. Now I am organizing this bloated puppy, have been doing so for days, and it is a daunting task. I am trying to simplify it all.
These servers are also loaded down with lots of old 500G drives, which are slowly being replaced with 1.5TB drives. 1.5TB now is much cheaper than 500G was then. It's amazing.

1:54p Related to the mouth
I just got back from the dentist. This is a new dentist, the first one I've seen in Tahoe. This guy is hard core. Dr. Pain gave me a deep ultrasonic cleaning, the kind that goes below the gum line. I have never had this type of cleaning before, usually I only require a superficial clean & polish. It hurt, bad. Really bad. Really really bad. I am glad it's over. Rush hope & pop a Percocet to ease the pain in my gums. Ahhhhh narcotics.
In more pleasant news, Clip found a good deal on Gruyère for me! Mail-order, $10/pound, half the price of getting it locally. Costco sells a bucket of fondue, and I'm glad I tried a sample yesterday. I was really curious to try it, but the fondue I make is way better. We also tried out a new bakery in Carson City, it's run by the son of Erik Schat, founder of a superawesome famous bakery in Bishop. I hope the bread's good. Anyway, that is what we're having tonight. :3 It's great winter food.
